Question: Many volunteers come to plant blessings but do not wish to study the Dharma or Dizigui; they easily notice others’ faults and create discord. Please advise.

Master Chin Kung: Volunteering to plant blessings is good. Yet without precepts, patience, and diligence—service, keeping rules, not criticizing, and uplifting the center’s image—one may create karma instead of merit. Giving, precepts, patience, and diligence without samadhi and prajna plant worldly blessings; with them, they become merit.

Pure Land practitioners take precepts and hardship as teachers. Achievement rests on patience—“all dharmas are accomplished through patience.” Leaving in resentment leaves the knot for future rebirths; dissolving enmity with respect and nianfo resolves it. “Better dissolve grudges than tighten them.”
