These festivals follow the lunar calendar. The Hong Kong date matches the Hong Kong Observatory conversion tables and changes at midnight in Hong Kong. Hong Kong is 12 hours ahead of New York during daylight time (about March through November) and 13 hours ahead during standard time. One Hong Kong day therefore runs in the Eastern Time zone from noon the day before (daylight time), or from 11:00 a.m. (standard time), until the same clock time on the Hong Kong date. That span is the last column.

A morning session on the Hong Kong date is still inside that lunar day. An evening session belongs on the previous Eastern date: by evening on the Hong Kong date, Hong Kong is already on the next lunar day. For the 2026 Bathing the Buddha festival, the Hong Kong date is May 24, and the Eastern span is noon on May 23 through noon on May 24. A morning ceremony fits on the morning of May 24; an evening ceremony fits on the evening of May 23.

When the seventh or ninth lunar month has only 29 days, Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva's Birthday and the Medicine Buddha's Birthday are observed on the 29th. 2028 has a leap fifth month; the dates below use the regular month. A year-end festival such as Laba can fall in January of the next Gregorian year and still belongs to that lunar year.
